Abstract The paper investigates the algebraic properties of weakly inverse-closed complex Banach function algebras generated by functions bounded variation on a finite interval. It is proved that such have Bass stable rank 1 and are projective-free if they do not contain nontrivial idempotents. These derived from new result vanishing second Čech cohomology group polynomially convex hull continuum linear measure described classical H. Alexander theorem.

Quasicompact and Riesz unital endomorphisms of real Lipschitz algebras of complex-valued functions
We first show that a bounded linear operator $ T $ on a real Banach space $ E $ is quasicompact (Riesz, respectively) if and only if $T': E_{mathbb{C}}longrightarrow E_{mathbb{C}}$ is quasicompact (Riesz, respectively), where the complex Banach space $E_{mathbb{C}}$ is a suitable complexification of $E$ and $T'$ is the complex linear operator on $E_{mathbb{C}}$ associated with $T$. Next, we pr...
متن کاملWeighted composition operators between Lipschitz algebras of complex-valued bounded functions
In this paper, we study weighted composition operators between Lipschitz algebras of complex-valued bounded functions on metric spaces, not necessarily compact. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the injectivity and the surjectivity of these operators. We also obtain sufficient and necessary conditions for a weighted composition operator between these spaces to be compact.
متن کاملStable Ranks of Banach Algebras of Operator-valued H Functions
Let E be an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space, and let H L(E) denote the Banach algebra of all functions f : D → L(E) that are holomorphic and bounded, equipped with the supremum norm ‖f‖∞ := supz∈D ‖f(z)‖L(E), f ∈ H ∞ L(E). We show that the Bass and topological stable ranks of H L(E) are infinite. If S is an open subset of T, then let A S L(E) denote the subalgebra of H L(E) of all functions ...
متن کاملSufficient Conditions for the Projective Freeness of Banach Algebras
Let R be a unital semi-simple commutative complex Banach algebra, and let M(R) denote its maximal ideal space, equipped with the Gelfand topology. Sufficient topological conditions are given on M(R) for R to be a projective free ring, that is, a ring in which every finitely generated projective R-module is free. Several examples are included, notably the Hardy algebra H∞(X) of bounded holomorph...

chapters 1 and 2 establish the basic theory of amenability of topological groups and amenability of banach algebras. also we prove that. if g is a topological group, then r (wluc (g)) (resp. r (luc (g))) if and only if there exists a mean m on wluc (g) (resp. luc (g)) such that for every wluc (g) (resp. every luc (g)) and every element d of a dense subset d od g, m (r)m (f) holds. chapter 3 inv...
